Are bugs bugging you? Do you have cockroaches in your bathroom, termites in your closets and ants in your pantry! Is it an ‘eeks!’ moment for you at least once in a day? No worries! Help is at hand. Here are a few handy tips to beset those bugs!

1. Putting a mesh screen door outside your main doors and wire mesh outside the exhaust fans vents will prevent insects and rodents from gaining entry.

2. Getting rid of rotting wood, will help to keep cockroaches roaches and out of your home.

3. Seal cracks and holes on the outside of the home including entry points for utilities and pipes.

6. Keeping trees trimmed away from your roof will prevent insects that might use the roof to gain access to your vents, and inside your home, and keep squirrels out of your attic.

7. Store garbage in sealed containers and dispose of it regularly.

8. Sealing all outside cracks and holes including those for electrical cables, communication cables, plumbing, and around doors and windows, will help to keep outdoor pests outdoors.

9. Keep basements, attics, stores and kitchen cupboards well ventilated and dry

10. Keep tree branches and shrubbery well trimmed and away from the house.

11. Seal all cracks and holes indoors.

12. If you have pets, check them after outdoor excursions for bugs and ticks.

13. Filling low water spots near your home will help to keep the mosquito population low.

14. Keeping the lids tightly closed on trash cans, and keeping the cans well away from any place where people gather or doorways to your home can cut down on flies.

15. If you have hornets and ants around your area, be careful that you don’t leave any sugary or carbohydrate filled foods (crumbs) around.

16. Fixing any leaky plumbing, or dripping outdoor taps will help to keep all pests away, including rodents, carpenter ants, and fungus.

If you follow these tips, it should minimize the possibility that you will have to use pesticide. However, if the pests are still not controllable, call a qualified pest professional for additional advice and treatment if necessary.
