BUSINES CARDS;- EASY WAY OUT
A business card is an inexpensive, internationally recognised means of representing yourself to business associates. The card serves as a method of introduction of your business or service. Here are a few styles in which you can appropriately exchange business cards across the world.
* In North America and in the UK, business card etiquette is quite loose. Although cards should be kept clean and presentable, it is not uncommon for businessmen to carry cards loose in their pockets. Ensure that you hand out your cards at the beginning of meetings (as an aid to remember names).
* In Japan and Korea, the business card is treated with respect and as an extension of the person. When a card is presented to you, receive it with both hands, bow, and express gratitude to the person. Do not put the card away immediately as that would be regarded as rude.
* In China, it is preferable to present your card before you ask for that of the other person’s. It is not impolite to present your card before you are asked to do so. Make sure that the translation of your card is in simplified Chinese characters.
* In some places like Iran, for example, only senior-level individuals exchange business cards. So ensure you are well-versed with the customs of the place you’re heading to.
